Three Main Ways Fishermen Catch Octopus

Fishery Improvement Project, Best Indonesian Commodity Octopus, Octopus Indonesia, Best Octopus Indonesia, Sustainable Fisheries Act, Sustainable Business Act, Octopus Specialized Processing, WORLD CLASS GIANT OCTOPUS PRODUCT, Trading Company, Specialized in OctopusQuoted from page id.fisheryprogress.org Fishermen catch octopus in three main ways they usually do to maintain the quality of the catch so that it has a high value.

  1. Coast-based fishing involves daily round trips from the local village landing site, using small boats, or fishing from a flotation device.
  2. Fishing also takes place further and further offshore, using larger carriers carrying 10-20 smaller canoes: these are used to collect octopuses in different locations for several days at sea. Octopuses are collected either from the surface by fishermen remaining on their boats, or by fishermen working directly in the water. When fishermen work from the surface, the octopus is pulled away from the structure by jig-like bait (pocong-pocong/kulepa), hooked, and pulled. Octopuses can also be collected in water from open bottoms or reef structures by piercing and collecting hands.
  3. Octopus retrieval also occurs in shallow intertidal and sub-tidal waters.
